Below are some highlights of the projects TPF funded for the Torrance Police Department.

TPF purchased 32 AED Devices for 32 patrol vehicles so that our Torrance Police officers can help save lives during an emergency. Often times, police are the first, first-responders on the scene of an emergency, before paramedics arrive. Now, our police officers have the tools to treat victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

The acquisition and field duty training of K9 Argos, as well as explosive detection training coursework and equipment for K9 Gero and his handling officer. These personnel and skills acquisitions bolster public safety by both expanding the availability of K9 Team deployment and widening the protective assets available to the community at large. ​

TPF is advancing technology for our Torrance Police Department! We purchased two drones, making the Torrance Police Department one of the first agencies in Southern California to include this technology in their law enforcement safety equipment. Some uses will include: locating missing persons, traffic collision and crime scene photography, coyote tracking, active shooter situations, evidence recovery and search and rescue at Torrance Beach.

 Each year thousands of officers from across the nation ride in their memory and partake in a nearly 300 mile, three-state bicycle trek from New Jersey into the nation's capital as a fund-raising demonstration of respect, gratitude and support. To date, Foundation funds helped enable the participation of twenty six Torrance Police officers during three, Unity Tour events. ​

TPF supports advanced officer training and education. Our grant will enable specialized drone training for two officers so they can perform intricate maneuvers in highly challenging situations, such as search and rescue operations and active shooter incidents.

The DNA extraction that helped the Torrance Police Department solve the murder case of an 11-year old Torrance teenager that had remained unsolved for nearly 40 years. Thanks to the Foundation grant, closure was brought to the many members of the victim's family as well as the many detectives who worked tirelessly on this case throughout the years. ​
