Torrance Police Foundation was proud to present its first grant check to the Torrance Police Department in the amount of $26,390.74 to jumpstart the Torrance Police Department AED Program. The funds will be used to purchase 18 Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) to be carried in police patrol cars. Police officers are typically the first first responder on the scene of an emergency. Now, they will have the equipment to make a difference and save lives when precious seconds and minutes matter before paramedics arrive on the scene. The Torrance Police Foundation congratulates the Torrance Police Department on a job well done! Torrance Police recently led a group of 18 other police agencies, including over 400 officers in a raid of 28 locations in and around South Los Angeles in August that led to the arrest of 13 people that were tied to over 5,000 burglaries in Southern California, including burglaries in Torrance and the South Bay. In addition to arresting 13 individuals, they recovered multiple firearms and various amounts of narcotics and U.S. currency. Torrance Police Officers are looking forward to participating in various National Night Out celebrations across the city on August 2, 2016. National Night Out is an important event in our community that promotes the neighborhood spirit, crime prevention and police-community partnerships. Torrance expects 25-30 block parties across the city and there are over 200 active Neighborhood Watch groups who are continuously working to encourage citizens to get involved. The Torrance Police Foundation wishes the Torrance Police Department officers and every neighborhood group, a safe, fun and memorable NNO celebration this year!
The Torrance Police Foundation (TPF), newly launched this summer of 2016, hosted a small luncheon at Aliotta’s Via Firenze restaurant in June, to introduce itself to some of the leaders of the Torrance business community. Speakers included Torrance Mayor Pat Furey, Torrance Police Chief Mark Matsuda and several members of the initial board of directors. It’s simply a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your neighborhood.
